Shannon's Story:
I own a day spa called Le Reve in Santa Barbara ,
California . Shortly after we first opened, I lost a client to cancer.
Although I didn't know her well, she touched my life immensely.
Another client of mine, a massage therapist who is an angel in her
own right, had told me how she sponsored a young girl who had
cancer and that's how it started. Myself and anyone who works at
Le Reve full-time, chooses to sponsor someone who has cancer.
We give them a free treatment every month. When that client
hopefully feels better we have them write a letter to let
us know they would like to pass on their sponsorship. I encourage you to decide how you would like to sponsor an individual. Be very clear as to how many hours a day, a week, or a month that you can commit to. Discuss a beginning and an end to your sponsorship. If you are doing any sort of bodywork, you should consult their oncologist to make sure what you are doing is okay and that there are no contradictions. Angels List requires the Angel volunteering and the recipient to each have a friend present at the first visit in order to make sure there is a connection, a sense of comfort and security with the person that you choose to sponsor. Please print out the sponsorship form to take with you. The Angel and the recipient will fill this out together. Please feel free to contact angelslist.org by emailing
guidance@angelslist.org or call 805-403-2240. It is important that angels needing guidance email their inquiries to
guidance@angelslist.org. We appreciate your help, your feedback, and any stories you would like to share.
